Well great event long day and a real effort to enter but we got there

Rally Barbados up in smoke!!!!!

Hello everyone,

Well been a few weeks now since the rally now its back to reality,

We did really well in the Rally all day Saturday stages getting faster and faster a long exhausting day to say the least the heat was 30% and in full racewear thats hot, the worst was waiting between stages and some stages being cancelled due to sabotage.

But anyway Sunday morning we hit the stages with a vengance creeping up in our group each run through, Sunday lunch still doing well then the 2nd run through we coasted into the start control and tried to start the car and OMG the wiring loom caught fire.....

We were devasted to say the least we tried to repair it so we could finish the rally but wasnt going to happen, devasted we were towed back to base.

At this point we were 3rd in our group out of 7 and 44th overall out of 86.

So with our dream in tatters we have decided to raise sponsorship and enter next year to finish what we started....


I would like to thank everyone in Barbados and the Uk for their support and help with this event.

Also YES the wedding did take place it was fantastic...check out the website and this picture...

Hiya everyone,

Well we did it our first part of the barbados rally carnival, the weather is 30 c all day everyday, the sun is shinning and the rum is flowing MAN......

So here we were at the scruteneering and all good passed......

Saturday at 10.30am we arrived at turners hall for the king of the hill...

The event consisted of 4 runs up an ffffffffinnngggggg big hill, one practice run and 3 times runs,

Practice run was quite a tame drive so we could check out the drops and corners.....

The first timed run was 1.49.36 seconds which was ok as they say anything under 2 mins is a good result.

the second timed run, well this was fun we were not ready but were waved onto the start line so had to go for it...i had no navigator communication as barry was still belting up his harness so i had to drive blind the result was 1.50 secs but hey still under 2 mins.

The third and final run was foot to the floor to my best ability for this stage and the result was 1.48 this was our best time for the hill climb.

overall we were only between 10 and 20 seconds slower than some of the islands best drivers.

I have pictures which i will forward as soon as i can load them.

The wedding plans are all up and running with about 150 guests turning up.....very low key wedding,....NOT

We are very pleased with our result so far and have been asked to enter the Sunseeker Rally in Bournmouth next year by the organiser.

We after thinking and thinking i couldnt think of anyone to give me away, so i thought ok lets ask Steve Perez so i did unfortunatly due to his commitments he was unable to give me away at our wedding in barbados so after some more thinking i thought mmmmm Ryan Champion who we have the honour of knowing from Wales Rally GB and rally barbados , so i emailed him a few days ago and he has agreed to do me the honour of giving me away......

The wedding plans are all under way with a big party back in the uk in June for all the family and freinds that cant make Barbados.

Still no news on the arrival of the car in Barbados so guessing she is till sailing her way through the atlantic ocean somewhere.

Sailing is underway

This is the cars being loaded onto the Banana Boat in Portsmouth if you look at the picture ours is in the right bottom corner next to Ryan Champions car.

The next time we meet our car will be on the 21st May in Barbados, our freind Andrew and melissa emailed us to let us know that it was all loaded ok their Puma is accompanying ours on its voyage.
In total we believe there to be approx 23 cars onboard from the Uk. These include top drivers like Steve Perez, Bjorn Waldegard, Ryan Champion and Kris Meeks to name a few.

We are at present setting up a direct website with the help of Brian at ABS Embroidery so will be adding the link to this blog as soon as we are up and running.

Woohooooo cars going into the container......

Our car is as we speak being loaded onto the container ready for shipping...couple of weeks and we are reunited in Barbados.....

Cars waiting to be shipped...

Well everyone our baby is ready and waiting at the docks to be shipped on the 29th April, all stocked up tyres, cool boxes, tools and anything else we could squeeze in.

Our mate Rally Phil came to see the car off and took the picture attached to this post, (thanks phil).

Monday i will be back down the docks to drive the car onto the container ready to go on tuesday,

On the move

Almost time to ship the car...

Hiya everyone,

Well tyres arrived as planned, all kit ready to go, yes we are ready for the car to be shipped....

Last final things to do in the morning and away she goes and we meet up again in Barbados on the 21st May 2008.

How do we feel???

Excited to put it mildly, today the Tshirts arrived all logo up by ABS embroiodery, Great job Brian, and to add to the finishing touches..2 team caps to match, as Brian said" you cant have an interview without a team cap , can you!! "

Update for the shipping of the car...

The car is being shipped out on the 25th April ready for our main event in Barbados, Tshirts are being done by ABS embroidery, (thanks Brian) , licences all done at Bill Gwynne Rally School, and so here we go its......"Power Power Power , full throttle ahead...

Eden Vauxhall Rally Team is up and running...

Hi All,

Cheryl & Barry here welcoming you to our blog on Eden Vauxhall Rally Team , its the start of something that will hit Barbados in May 2008, this will be our main event to take the Astra 16v through its paces on the Barbados stages.....

We have been lucky enough to have sponsorship from Eden Vauxhall in Fareham to enable us to get up and running, not only have they been our main sponsor but we also have ABS embroidery on board, plus AWS racewear and the old castle B & B in wales.
